Fieldstone is scheduled to speak at the May 16-17 Florida Council for Public Private Partnerships (FCP3) Spring Conference in Orlando.  Mr. Fieldstone is presenting the topic “EB-5 Financing.” The FCP3 provides educational content, case studies, relationship development and networking, and other programs to stimulate public/private partnerships in Florida and help its members start to do business with each other.

Arnstein & Lehr Miami Partner Randall L. Sidlosca was interviewed by El Sentinel, The South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Spanish edition, for an article on how Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’ death may impact South Florida’s economy.  The article, was entitled “The economy of South Florida dependent on the political development of Venezuela.”

Mr. Sidlosca noted in his comments his concerns that if the country’s vice president is not elected in the next election, it could completely change the investment scheme of Venezuelans in South Florida.  Mr. Sidlosca’s belief is that there is consensus that if Chavez’ policies are maintained, Venezuelan investments should continue to flow into Florida.

Arnstein & Lehr Miami Partner Randall Sidlosca recently appeared on a November 25 Fox News Channel segment, “EB-5 Visa Program Rewards Immigrants Who Create U.S. Jobs.” The focus of the segment was how the EB-5 program works for immigrant investors and the upswing of participants in the initiative.

Mr. Sidlosca provided some insight into the program’s scope and benefits. He assists immigrant investors, which have the required capital and job creation capabilities, with finding investment projects nationwide. Mr. Sidlosca emphasized the benefits to both the foreign immigrant investor and the United States. He summed it up by saying the U.S. needs the creation of more jobs, and the immigrants receive a permanent green card and a beneficial place to invest their money. It is a win-win situation.

Arnstein & Lehr Miami Partner Ronald R. Fieldstone wrote an article, “EB-5 Program Infuses Foreign Capital Into U.S.,” for REBusiness Online on September 11. In the article, Mr. Fieldstone discusses how the the EB-5 program has generated a unique opportunity for real estate developers and operators. He states, “The program provides needed capital, job creation and the migration of wealthy foreigners to the U.S. To date more than $3 billion of capital has been funded under the program.”

Additionally, Mr. Fieldstone provides three main factors in the evaluation process to meet the competitive demand for investor capital. He also gives examples of various ways the program is being utilized.

Arnstein & Lehr Miami Partner Randall L. Sidlosca was quoted in two Spanish-speaking news sites on August 23, Yahoo news and Univision Noticias, regarding the EB5 visa program for foreign investors. The articles, titled “Experts ask for extension of visas that benefit LatAm businessmen,” discuss how the EB5 was created in 1990 and will expire on September 30; so far, the Senate has approved a new extension for another three years, however, it is not clear whether the House will vote on it. Mr. Sidlosca comments that the EB5 program is very popular among investors in Latin America, especially in Venezuela and Mexico, seeking a “safe” place for their investments. Fox News Latino has also picked up the EFE story and translated the article into English. Fox Latino has 829,467 unique visitors per month.

The EB-5 program is administered by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is intended to stimulate foreign investment and to create jobs at the same time. The program allows qualifying US-based companies to raise capital from foreign investors. Investors can invest either $500,000 or $1 million as direct investors in small businesses or through an “EB-5 regional center” and receive a green card upon approval of their investment application.
